Sharing Assembly

Sharing Assembly

Sharing Assembly is a cherished Mead tradition that has evolved beautifully over time. What began as a simple circle for sharing moments from the week has grown into a vibrant, 25-minute weekly showcase—now a highlight of our Friday afternoons.

Every Friday at 3:00 pm, the whole Pre-K–8 community gathers in the theater for a lively, student-driven production. With help from their support teachers, students sign up early in the week and rehearse songs, dances, skits, or other acts, gaining confidence and stage presence. Mead’s Tech students handle lights and sound, and a rotating student announcer brings energy and structure to the show.

Though the format has become more dynamic, the heart of the ritual remains: connection. The ceremonial gong, rung by student pairs, opens and closes each assembly, and we all come together to sing the school song. It’s a safe, joyful space for students to perform, take risks, and learn how to be kind, attentive audience members—especially meaningful for our youngest learners.

Sharing Assembly still embodies its original spirit—community, belonging, and celebration—while giving students real ownership of their learning and expression.
