Pre-K - 2nd Graders Paint Rocks with Special Meaning

Kindergarten Co-Teacher Isabelle Weiss created a project for Pre-K, Kindergarten, First and Second Grade students built upon the book, "Only one you!" by Linda Krainz. The characters in the book are delightfully and uniquely painted "rockfish". Throughout the book, "rockfish" parents share words of wisdom with their "rockfish" son. The story closes with the Mom stating to her child, "There's only one you in this great big world. Make it a better place."

This story presented a wonderful opportunity for the students and faculty in Pre-K-Grade 2 to discuss how the choices we make can build a better community. Each student decorated their own rock, symbolizing the diversity within our community, and how it is a special thing to be different, and our own unique selves.

On Thursday, the students found a perfect location outside of their centers to arrange their rocks together.
