Fostering Healthy Social Development

Fostering Healthy Social Development

Children are born to socialize, and a warm and safe environment that provides meaningful sensory experiences gives them the opportunity to develop early social skills. Research shows that children who form strong social attachments to a few important people in their lives are more likely to relate well to others as they grow up. As children play and explore, they begin to develop a sense of self and become increasingly aware of each other’s presence. These attachments prepare a child for a lifetime of learning.

Displaying love through hugs plays a huge part in a young child’s social and emotional development. The closeness, the warmth, and the body contact between children and teachers are so important. Other experiences such as reading to children, playing peekaboo, and dancing with teachers are all fun bonding experiences that show children they can connect with loving adults through fun activities. They learn the value and joy of back and forth play, which is an important aspect of all successful relationships!
