An Exploration of Performance Art

Inspired by the Chilean performance artist Carmen Beuchat, the 4th and 5th graders have been engaging in their own education and experience with performance art. Led by Darleen Hickok, Curriculum Director of Drama, the students have had exposure to Carmen through videos of her work, followed by small group exploration of her style and the students' own presentation of performance art.

The process for students included generating, conceptualizing, organizing, and developing artistic ideas and work. They then refined and presented their work to the full class.
