Alumni News: Maya Blair '19 Named STAR Student
Maya Blair graduated from The Mead School in 2019 and moved to Georgia with her family, where she has been named a STAR student of her senior class at McDonough High School. To be named a STAR student, students must have the highest SAT score and be in the top 10 percent or top 10 students of the class based on grade point average. The Professional Association of Georgia Educators Foundation, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, and the Georgia Department of Education sponsor the state STAR Program each year.
Maya will be attending the Georgia Institute of Technology to study Computer Science in the fall. Her mom, Aneceia Forbes, attributes Maya's time at Mead as a strong contributing factor to her success. "I am definitely certain that her time at Mead has been invaluable in all her many high school accomplishments. She continues to advocate for her education and ensures all her classes keep her engaged and challenged. Mead has laid the foundation for her which I will forever be grateful for."
Congratulations to Maya and her family on this honor!
