Mead Defeats Pierrepont in Final Basketball Game of Season

Mead Defeats Pierrepont in Final Basketball Game of Season

Our 6-8 basketball team had an amazing season of trials and triumphs with tremendous lessons of teamwork, team spirit, and grit, throughout. Coach Frank Pollifrone summed up the season: "That's a wrap on our 2024 Basketball Season! What a season it was, with many emotions all around. We witnessed a team of 16 players work hard individually each week to try and mold into one cohesive team! Players worked hard each practice and learned new basketball terms, plays, and drills. For some players, this was their first basketball experience and they really soaked up all the great things that come with being on a team!  Whether it was triumph or defeat, the students learned how to support one another on and off the court. We had a 16-player rotation which is unheard of in basketball, but every student had playing time in each game. We wish our players continued success on and off the court, and we're grateful to our community for the AMAZING support at every game! GO MEAD!"

The season concluded with two back-to-back Mead wins, the first against Eagle Hill Greenwich, and the final win against Pierrepont School, 26 to 13. In honor of the final game of the season, before the game began, the Pre-K - Grade 8 students and staff held a rousing pep rally where Coach Frank announced each player's entrance onto the court in "Madison Square Garden" style in the gym. We can't help but believe that the school's pep rally and "spirit day" fueled our team to a win! Our players have one "unofficial" basketball game remaining on March 15th at 2:00PM when the STAFF will square off against STUDENTS to kick off Mead's K-8 Spring Break.
