Experiential learning is at the heart of what we do.The Mead School creates an environment where exploration, trial and error, collaboration, and skilled teaching of a rich curriculum seamlessly marries appropriate rigor with social and emotional growth.
Learning goes well beyond the 3 R’s and the 4 walls of a classroom, and is most memorable when it is delivered in a personally meaningful way.Cross-curricular, experiential learning is the norm, allowing young learners to find their voices, take some risks, and cultivate their intuition, imagination and creativity.
Kindergarten - Grade 2
The main goal for the curriculum within these age groups is to provide a wide and stimulating range of hands-on, enjoyable learning experiences for all children.
We meet students where they are in their own personal academic, social and emotional growth.
Grades 3 & 4
This is an exciting time as the curriculum extends in depth and variety, and students start to develop more autonomy in their learning - discovering new skills and following new interests.
Children are becoming more proficient, taking on more complicated material, and developing analytical abilities.
Students are now well on their way to becoming independent learners - possessing a keen sense of how they learn - knowing what comes more naturally to them, and what takes more effort.
These years support further exploration and skill acquisition, and even some mastery.
Our daughter has been at the Mead School since 1st Grade, but we wish we had sent her even sooner!
We feel so fortunate to have found a place that focuses just as much on her social and emotional needs as her academics.
