After School Program

Our After School Program is available to children in Grades K - 8. We offer staff-based curriculum and sports-based activities covering a wide variety of subjects by both Mead faculty and outside vendors. Programs run throughout the year and change seasonally.

Spring 2018 Activities

Mondays - Improv with Joy Lenters (Grades 6-8)

Acting in the box….outside of the box!! Improv scenes and games will open up your acting genius.

Tuesdays - Graffiti Art with Adam Ellyson (Grades 2-8)

Students will learn the basic techniques of preparing and cooking food. Each week will focus on a new cuisine and cooking style, with samples going home to be shared. Menus focus on easy-to-find ingredients and time-saving steps. Participants leave the class with recipes and a knowledge that will last a lifetime. Chef Adam has years of experience from burger grills, to catering, to his own curiosity and love of food.

Wednesdays - Yoga with Children's School of Yoga (K-3)

Join us on the mat at Mead! At The Children’s School of Yoga we have been teaching yoga to children for over 10 years. Children enjoy our theme-based lesson plans while learning yoga postures, breathing exercises, mindfulness techniques and creative journaling. We strive to create an engaging learning environment where students receive the benefits of yoga and mindfulness including focus, flexibility, stress reduction, increased confidence and self-regulation skills. Mats and props provided. Comfortable clothes recommended.

Thursdays - Movie Making 101 with Darleen Hickok (Grades K-5)

Have you ever wanted to make your own movie? You can learn how! Brainstorm Ideas, create a storyboard, shoot your film, learn how to edit it, add music and share it with the community!

Fridays - Wiffle Ball with Frank Pollifrone (Grades 3-8)

In this program players will learn the basic fundamentals of playing the sport of basketball. Whether you're on the Mead Basketball team and want to improve skills, in a local rec league or want to improve confidence, this is the program for you. Experienced students will be challenged, as well - designed to support all different skill levels.
