Job Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION:  Grades 2-5 Grade Mathematics Curriculum Director, Social Studies Team Member, Team Sports Assistant

Program:   

The Mead School offers a progressive Infant – 8th Grade program operating within a mixed grade Center concept, one where the Curriculum Directors work in tandem with the Home Center Director (HCD) to deliver the optimal experience for each student – socially, emotionally and academically. 

Experience:  Minimum of 2-3 years teaching Elementary School Math.

Education: Masters preferred.

Responsibilities:

The 2-5th Grade Mathematics Curriculum Director is responsible for building upon existing curriculum, and creating and delivering pertinent curriculum to bring students along their learning paths, and stretch their exposure on their way to mastery.  The ideal candidate will have a profound appreciation for teaching and working with students in the 2nd-5th grade range, and have the desire to bring love of math, from every angle, to the classroom on a daily basis.  S/he will also be motivated to design and deliver curriculum to meet all modalities of learning: visual, auditory and kinesthetic, with a heavy emphasis on problem solving & inquiry-based learning.  This teacher will want to create a close partnership with their students, to help them actively engage in their own learning.

Social Studies Team Members continue to build upon existing curriculum and continually refresh their approach to respond to the inquiries and interests of their students.  As a Team Sports Assistant, s/he serves as an assistant to the Physical Development Curriculum Director during the Team Sports at the end of the day.

All teachers at The Mead School are expected to participate in the community by joining committees, taking an active role in meetings, engaging in grade-specific activities that further the program, and are also expected to participate in bus duty, community meetings, evening or weekend events, and center trips as they pertain to the age group taught.   All teachers are expected to participate in Open Houses, Staff Development offerings, and Diversity/Multicultural events or workshops.  In addition, this cross-curriculum teacher also provides written reports for students and families twice yearly. 

This full-time position begins August 26, 2019, approximately 40 hours per week, 8:15am- 3:45pm Monday – Friday.

Childcare Teacher - Floater Position

Job Description

Department: Early Learning

Position(s) Available: Childcare Floater

Experience: 3+ years experience providing care for young children, preferably in a classroom type setting.

Knowledge: Should have understanding of the early childhood years and possess ability to work with children ranging in age from 3 months to 5 years.

Personality: Must be able to relate to children and adults.  Have a professional manner, be organized, take direction well and be quick to learn. Should possess a strong positive energy and communicate well with others. Must be a team player with strong interpersonal skills, trustworthy and maintain strict confidentiality standards.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to working in conjunction with several teaching teams to maintain a physically safe, clean and healthy learning environment; provide a developmentally appropriate and anti-biased curriculum; and care for and support each child's emotional, social, cognitive, creative and physical development.

Education: CDA preferred. College coursework in Early Childhood Education accepted.

This is an entry level position, 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Competitive salary and benefits.
