The Mead School trustees, faculty and administration have long-believed that making a Mead School education accessible for all families is an important part of our Mission.
It comes as no surprise that tuition rates at most independent schools in our area have soared in recent years to levels that give pause to all families, regardless of their financial situation. There is no way to escape that the real cost of educating our children is high. But the value of that education is even higher. Finding the right balance is imperative for the sustainability of any school and after several years of thoughtful debate and consideration, we have decided to draw a line in the sand and make a change.
We are, therefore, pleased to introduce The Mead School Tuition Initiative, our plan to rationalize tuition levels across all grades over the coming years in a way that makes a Mead School education attractive and affordable to more families who seek our unique approach.
The first step in this initiative is a reduction in the 2020-2021 tuition rates for our Kindergarten and First Grade, and a freeze on tuition for Grades 2-8 at the 2019-2020 rates.
During the coming year, we will re-evaluate tuition levels for Grades 2-8 in order to establish a structure that increases affordability for families, offers transparency in pricing, and makes the benefits of investment in a Mead School experience more apparent - all while continuing to offer everything you expect from a robust Mead School education. Our longstanding commitment to need-based financial aid will not change.
Our school has never been better - and we heartily believe if we take a stand as a leader in the effort to meet the needs of families more holistically, we will be able to continue to offer an outstanding education to even more children.
